Al Sadd defeat Al Khor in Qatar Basketball League

DOHA, December 8, 2016-Young point guard Moustafa Fouda notched up nine of his 26 points late and set up a thrilling 77-75 overtime victory for former QBF League champions and last year's runners up Al Sadd Club against Al Khor Club on Wednesday.

At the Al Gharafa Club Indoor Hall, the match was an engrossing affair of fluctuating fortunes. Both were tied on eight occasions and the lead changed hands a dozen times. With 4:11 left in the fourth quarter, 205-cm power forward Rickey Young tipped in to put Al Khor seven points clear (67-60).
The 19-year-old point guard Fouda then collected five points, including a downtown shot, to bring Al Sadd within two points of drawing level. Yassin Mahdi Taha equalised with a jump shot.
Young soon converted his both throws from the charity stripe to wrest the lead for Al Khor. However, 206-cm forward Raymond Sykes enforced the extended play with a clean shot.

Now Al Sadd breathed a sigh of relief and Sykes placed them ahead soon after the resumption. Young again responded and used the pair of free throws to restore parity. It was here that Fouda shone and fired a three-pointer (74-71) to put a great deal of pressure on Al Khor.

Young's lay up was followed by Dairese Gary's basket and Al Khor were ahead by a point (75-74). However, a foul on Fouda allowed him to lock the scores for Al Sadd and forward Brandon Penn sank both free throws from a personal foul by Ahmed Mohamed with 13 seconds to go.

Gary had a futile a beyond-the-arc shot to gain the lead for Al Khor. Taha of Al Sadd also got an opportunity to increase the lead after a personal foul. Though he could not utilise them, it was still enough for Al Sadd to scrape the victory.
