Qatar SC and Al Arabi victorious in Qatar Basketball League

DOHA, December 21, 2016-Qatar Sports Club continued to live on the edge and managed to pip Al Shamal Club in the last minute of the QBF League through a glorious triple-double by James Justice Jr at the Al Gharafa Club Indoor Hall on Tuesday.

The clash between the two sides saw numerous ups and downs the two were locked on 13 occasions and the lead changed hands eight times.
Even in the fourth and final quarter, Qatar Sports Club and Al Shamal Club tied the scores eight times, with the latter calling the shots more than their opponents. However with Quinton Doggett spearheading Qatar Sports Club's challenge, his team hit the upfront second time when less than two minutes remained in the quarter.
Al Shamal Club quickly knotted the scores (89-89) and he could have put his team ahead, if he had converted the free throw in the three-point play. With both teams missing their chances due to pressure, the game entered the final minute and Doggett used both the offers from the charity stripe after a personal foul by Faris Avdic to push his team ahead (91-89).
Justin Tubbs equalised with a jumper 35 seconds before the close. On the inevitable possession, Qatar Sports Club got ahead again through a jump shot by Marzoq Almuhnai, his only field goal of the match, and Doggett sank one of his two free throws, with three second left in the match, to seal the fate of the opponents.
Justice scored 11 of his 40 points in the final quarter. He also collected 10 rebounds, along with 13 assists for the winners. Doggett posted nine of his 34 points in the fourth quarter to keep the momentum going. He also had 14 rebounds.
This was the third victory for Qatar Sports Club in four matches so far, while Al Shamal were beaten for the third time in four matches. Turnover points also proved vital for the winners as they earned 19, nine more than the rivals.
For Al Shamal, Mohamed Maharath was the chief scorer with 33 points. He had 20 rebounds to his name as well. Tubbs secured 29 points.
In another match, Al Arabi Club pulled off an 85-80 victory against Al Wakrah Club, leading from the start to finish. This was their third triumph in four matches, while Al Wakrah Club suffered third loss in four games.
Mame Souleye Ndour was the principal architect of the victory with a double-double of 23 points and 11 rebounds. Adamu Saaka and Gueye Momar Talla contributed 20 and 19 points, respectively.
Al Wakrah Club raised the level of their resistance and narrowed down the margin to five points. Olatokunbo Ayeni had a match-high figure of 36 points and 13 rebounds. Larry Dale William Jr managed 27 points.
