QBF Chief lauds performance in Basketball League

His Excellency, Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the President of Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF) extended congratulation to Al-Rayyan, Al-Sadd and Al-Arabi teams after they were named as  the top three teams in the Basketball League 2011 – 2012.

Al-Rayyan team confidently won the league title on Sunday for the fifth time in their history , Al-Sadd SC managed second place to take silver medals  as the third place went to Al-Arabi SC.

His Excellency Sheikh Saoud congratulated the three teams for their convincing performance in the league and wished best luck for the others in the upcoming two prestigious Championships, HH Heir Apparent Cup and HH the Emir Cup.

His Excellency, Sheikh Saoud confirmed that the QBF is planning  to  make improvements in the league next year  in the terms of organization,  participating teams, competitions and  fans attendance.

 

Thrilling start for SOP Basketball Competitions

The final rounds of basketball competitions at the fifth edition of the Schools Olympic Program began on Wednesday at the indoor hall of Al-Gharafa SC.

Eight schools qualified to the second round for boys’ preparatory schools including Abi Obaida, Sharq Al-Awsat, Noor Al-Khaleej, Lebanese School, Abu Baker Al-Seddiq, Sudanese School, Abdulrahman bin Jassim and Omer bin Al-Khatab.

Wednesday’s matches were officiated by refereeing staff from the Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF). Dr. Mostafa Diab, QBF Technical Expert said that the matches are very important for the clubs as these matches give them opportunity to attract talented players at young ages.

Six more matches will be played on Thursday as Al-Wakrah School Will take on Al-Koon Academy and Sudanese School will shake hands with Hamad bin Abdullah while Al-Sharq Al-Awsat will face Musaab bin Umeir.

Moreover, Ahmad bin Mohammad Al-Thani will meet Omer bin Al-Khatab and Abdullah Al-Missned will lock horns with Tariq bin Zeyad.

 

Al-Rayyan win Qatar Basketball League

Al-Rayyan claimed the title of Qatar Basketball League after defeating Al-Sadd 81-65 at Al-Rayyan hall on Tuesday.

The victory brought the points tally of Al-Rayyan to 26 securing the title before their last match against Al-Gharafa.

HE Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, President of the Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF) congratulated Al-Rayyan Sports Club under leadership of HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Thani on winning the title of Qatar Basketball League.

Sheikh Saoud lauded the performance of Al-Rayyan Basketball Team throughout the league and during the match against Al-Sadd. 

The QBF President expected the stronger competition from the teams to compete in HH Emir Cup and HH Heir Apparent Cup and wished the titles not be limited in one team.

On the other hand, Al-Arabi occupied the third place in the league with 21 points after beating Al-Gharafa 87-69 on Tuesday.

Al-Rayyan and Al-Jaish register victories in Basketball League

Al-Rayyan and Al-Jaish registered deserved victories in the Qatar Basketball League on Saturday.

Al-Rayyan defeated Al-Ahli 72-64 in the match held at Al-Gharafa hall while Al-Jaish overpowered Al-Wakrah 77-49.

Two matches will be played on Sunday, as Qatar SC will take on Al-Arabi while Al-Sadd will shake hands with Al-Gharafa.
