Doha – August 26, 2026:
The Qatar Basketball Federation took part in the awareness workshop organized by the Qatar Olympic Committee for athletes participating in the 20th Asian Games “Aichi-Nagoya 2026.” The workshop was attended by Mr. Saadoun Sabah Al-Kuwari, Secretary General of the Federation and Director of National Teams, along with several national team players competing in the Games.
The Federation’s participation came as part of preparations for the continental event, scheduled to be held in Japan from September 19 to October 4, 2026. Athletes and delegation members were briefed on organizational aspects and participation guidelines.
During the workshop, the administrative delegation of Team Qatar highlighted key regulations and standards approved by the Olympic Council of Asia, in addition to introducing the “Al-Mirqab” platform, designed to provide federations and delegations with the latest updates and information related to the Games.
The program also included an anti-doping awareness session presented by the Qatar Anti-Doping Agency, outlining athletes’ responsibilities and compliance requirements during competition. Furthermore, the workshop addressed media engagement, emphasizing the importance of positive representation, responsible use of digital platforms, and proper interaction with media outlets.
The Federation’s involvement reflects its ongoing preparations for upcoming commitments, foremost among them participation in the Asian Games — a pivotal opportunity to gain experience and face top Asian teams.
Qatar’s men’s basketball team will compete in Group B alongside Iran, Jordan, and Chinese Taipei, beginning their campaign against Iran on September 10, followed by Jordan on September 12, and concluding the group stage against Chinese Taipei on September 13.
In the 3×3 basketball competitions, both the men’s and women’s national teams face strong challenges. The men’s team will play in Group C with Indonesia, Chinese Taipei, and Bahrain, while the women’s team will compete in Group A against China, Kazakhstan, and Sri Lanka.
