The Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF) organized a series of technical workshops for referees officiating local competitions, with the participation of all members of the officiating crew. The workshops were held at the federation’s conference hall in Al Gharafa as part of preparations for the 2026-2027 sports season.
The workshops focused on reviewing the latest amendments to the 2026 International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Official Basketball Rules, highlighting the most significant legal and technical updates, and discussing implementation mechanisms during games. The objective was to ensure consistency in officiating decisions and enhance refereeing standards across competitions.
The program included referees assigned to the Men’s General League, age-group competitions across all categories, and the Women’s League in all divisions, in addition to table officials. The workshops formed part of the federation’s preparation program aimed at equipping all officiating personnel for the 2026-2027 season.
Discussions centered on the recent rule changes and their impact on game management, as well as officiating situations requiring a thorough understanding of the new regulations. The sessions also emphasized strengthening coordination between on-court referees and table officials to ensure the consistent application of rules across all competitions.
These workshops reflect the Qatar Basketball Federation’s ongoing efforts to develop the local officiating system and elevate the standards of both male and female referees through continuous technical education and alignment with updates issued by FIBA. Such initiatives contribute to improving the quality of game management and the overall organizational standards of competitions.
The federation remains committed to providing all necessary requirements for a successful season by preparing technical and officiating personnel and enhancing their readiness to deal with various game situations. These efforts serve clubs and players alike while reinforcing the principles of fairness, integrity, and discipline on the court.
