Qatar Basketball Federation to Organize Breast Cancer Awareness Workshop on October 29

Doha, October 21, 2026
The Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF), in cooperation with the Qatar Cancer Society (QCS), will organize an interactive breast cancer awareness workshop on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at the Federation’s headquarters in Al Gharafa. The event is being held as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month (Pink October) activities and reflects ongoing efforts to promote health awareness and highlight the importance of prevention and early detection.
The workshop will take place in the lecture hall at the Federation’s headquarters from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with the participation of Qatar women’s national basketball team players, as well as the Federation’s administrative and technical staff. The initiative aims to raise awareness about women’s health, encourage regular health screenings, and promote healthy lifestyle practices within the community.
The program will feature educational and interactive sessions focusing on breast cancer awareness, the significance of early detection in improving diagnosis and treatment outcomes, and key preventive measures linked to a healthy lifestyle. These activities are designed to strengthen health awareness and enhance participants’ knowledge of the disease.
This initiative comes as part of the ongoing collaboration between the Qatar Basketball Federation and the Qatar Cancer Society, utilizing sports activities and community events as platforms to deliver important health messages and support women’s well-being. The effort highlights the broader social role of sports institutions beyond the scope of athletic competition.
The participation of national team players and the Federation’s administrative and technical personnel also reflects the Federation’s commitment to engaging its members in health and community initiatives, while leveraging such events to promote awareness of prevention, early detection, and healthy living.
Breast cancer awareness campaigns receive significant attention each year during the month of October, with numerous initiatives and events organized to increase public understanding of the disease, emphasize the importance of early screening and appropriate medical examinations, and foster a culture of proactive women’s health care.
The workshop is expected to enhance participants’ health knowledge and broaden the reach of awareness messages within the sporting community, reinforcing the partnership between sports and health institutions in the State of Qatar.
