Doha – February 7, 2026:
The Qatar Women’s Basketball League for the 2025–2026 season kicked off on Friday evening, February 6, 2026, in front of a large crowd. The opening round delivered great excitement and strong competition among the participating teams, representing the most prominent women’s basketball clubs in Qatar.

On Court (1) at the Federation Hall, Al Gharafa faced Al Adaam in a marathon clash that was decided by a single point, with Al Gharafa prevailing 62–61. Spectators praised the high level of competitiveness and intensity shown by both teams. Despite Al Adaam’s impressive performance—participating for technical and developmental purposes without its results being counted in the standings—Al Gharafa demonstrated remarkable composure in the decisive moments to secure the first two points of the competition.

At the same time on Court (2), Al Shamal imposed its dominance over Al Khor with a comfortable margin, winning 85–71, reflecting its readiness and strength at the start of the season. With this result, Al Shamal topped the standings with two points, while Al Khor earned one point.

This season’s league will be played in three rounds, featuring four main teams: Al Gharafa, Al Adaam, Al Shamal, and Al Khor. The competition is set to intensify with regular rounds scheduled in the coming months, as teams battle for the title, which will be awarded to the club with the highest points at the end of the season. A playoff match may be held in case of a tie.

Round Two continues on Friday, February 13, 2026, with Al Khor meeting Al Gharafa, and Al Adaam facing Al Shamal. Round Three will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, featuring Al Gharafa vs. Al Shamal and Al Khor vs. Al Adaam.

The second phase of the league begins on Friday, February 20, 2026, with Al Adaam taking on Al Gharafa and Al Khor meeting Al Shamal, both matches scheduled for 9:00 p.m. Round Two of the second phase follows on February 22, 2026, with Al Gharafa vs. Al Khor and Al Shamal vs. Al Adaam.

The second phase concludes on Sunday, March 1, 2026, with Al Shamal facing Al Gharafa and Al Adaam meeting Al Khor. The schedule for the third phase will be announced at a later date.
