Doha – February 5, 2026:
The Qatar Basketball Federation announces the launch of the Women’s General Basketball League for the 2025–2026 sports season, kicking off on Friday, February 6, 2026. Two matches will be played simultaneously at 8:00 p.m. in the opening round: Al Gharafa will face Al Adaam, while Al Shamal will meet Al Khor, with the games held on courts (1) and (2) at the Federation Hall.

This season, the league will be played under a three-round system, with four teams competing: Al Gharafa, Al Adaam, Al Shamal, and Al Khor.

The second round will take place on Friday, February 13, 2026, featuring Al Khor against Al Gharafa and Al Adaam against Al Shamal. The third round will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, with Al Gharafa meeting Al Shamal and Al Khor facing Al Adaam.

The second stage of the league begins on Friday, February 20, 2026, with Al Adaam playing Al Gharafa and Al Khor meeting Al Shamal. Both matches will start at 9:00 p.m. The second round of this stage will be played on February 22, 2026, with Al Gharafa against Al Khor and Al Shamal against Al Adaam.

The second stage concludes on Sunday, March 1, 2026, with two matches: Al Shamal vs. Al Gharafa and Al Adaam vs. Al Khor. The schedule for the third stage will be announced at a later date.

The Qatar Basketball Federation affirms that the Women’s League champion will be determined by the club with the highest number of points at the end of the competition. In the event of a tie at the top of the standings, a playoff match will be held to decide the champion.

The Federation also clarifies that Al Adaam’s participation in the league will not count toward the official standings. This decision serves technical and developmental purposes, aiming to support the players and provide them with greater opportunities for competition and experience.
