The 14th round matches of the Second Division of the General Basketball League for the 2025-2026 sports season kick off on Monday, January 12, 2026. The opening day features an important clash between Al Gharafa and Al Ahli teams at Al Gharafa Hall, scheduled for 6:00 PM.
Al Gharafa enters the match occupying the seventh position in the standings with 17 points, having achieved 4 wins and suffered 9 defeats. Meanwhile, Al Ahli is aiming to continue its strong performances this season and maintain its place among the top-four (Golden Square) teams. Al Ahli currently sits in fourth place with 21 points, just one point behind Al Sadd, who holds third place with 22 points.
The 14th round matches continue on January 14, with Qatar Club facing Al Sadd, and Al Khor taking on Al Wakrah at Al Rayyan Hall. The round concludes on January 15 with a match between Al Shamal and Al Rayyan at Al Gharafa Hall. Meanwhile, the reigning champion Al Arabi Club will have a rest this round.

This season features a new competitive format in the playoff stages, with a “Play-In” phase involving teams finishing between third and sixth place, which increases the intensity of competition and makes the conclusion of the season more exciting and dramatic.
On January 31, the third-placed team will face the fourth-placed team in a direct match at 6:00 PM, with the winner advancing directly to the semi-finals to face the second-placed team.
On the same day, at 8:00 PM, the fifth-placed team will play the sixth-placed team, with the loser being eliminated from the competition. The winner advances to face the loser of the third-vs-fourth match in a decisive play-in game on February 2 to determine the second semi-finalist.
The semi-finals and final will be played in a best-of-three series format, until the champion of the 2025-2026 basketball league season is crowned, amid expectations of fierce competition among the teams for the title.
