Doha – April 8, 2026:
The Qatar Basketball Federation organized a specialized lecture on psychological support for players in the Under-12 and Under-14 categories on Wednesday evening, April 8, 2026, at the Federation’s headquarters meeting hall, in collaboration with Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital.
Dr. Karim Khaladi, a psychological therapy specialist from Aspetar, delivered the lecture as part of his commitment to strengthening the mental aspects of young athletes following the challenging period they have recently experienced.
The session was attended by club and national team players, along with Lebanese coach Rana Bazazo, Technical Director and Head Coach of the Women’s National Team. Their participation highlighted the importance of coordination between technical and administrative bodies in providing psychological support during different stages of player preparation.
The lecture focused on practical tools to help players cope with psychological pressures, build self-confidence, overcome competition-related anxiety, and reinforce concepts of positive thinking and mental discipline—key elements in enhancing athletic performance.
Dr. Khaladi also emphasized the vital role of the player’s surrounding environment, both within and outside the team, in ensuring psychological stability. He stressed the need for collective efforts between technical staff and families to achieve the best personal and sporting outcomes.
The lecture witnessed active engagement from participants through discussions and questions, creating a positive atmosphere that enriched the practical benefits of the session.
This initiative forms part of the Federation’s comprehensive plan to develop women’s basketball by focusing on psychological aspects alongside technical training, thereby preparing a well-rounded generation of players capable of meeting challenges and achieving success in various competitions.
