Doha – 2 December 2025:
As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen national partnerships and support the development of basketball in the State of Qatar, the Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF) announces the signing of a sponsorship and cooperation agreement with Mosafer Trading and Transport Company. The agreement was signed during a ceremony held at the federation’s headquarters.
The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Saadoun Sabah Al-Kuwari, Secretary-General and Director of National Teams at the Qatar Basketball Federation, and Mr. Hossam Abdel Azim Ibrahim, Chief Executive Officer of Mosafer Trading and Transport Company, along with several officials from the federation and representatives of the company.
In his speech on the occasion, Mr. Saadoun Sabah Al-Kuwari stressed that the signing of this agreement represents a continuation of constructive cooperation between the federation and private-sector institutions. He pointed out that the coming period carries many important challenges, foremost among them the ongoing preparations to host the FIBA Basketball World Cup – Qatar 2027, which will be the first time the tournament is held in the Middle East and North Africa region.
He added that the partnership with Mosafer represents significant added value to the federation’s journey, particularly as it will directly contribute to supporting the workshops and accompanying programs of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Academy Championship — one of the major milestones in the “Qatar Road to 2027” plan aimed at developing human resources and preparing the national teams.
Additionally, Mosafer will co-sponsor the eFIBA World Finals for electronic basketball, scheduled for April 2026 with the participation of top players from around the world. This championship is one of the most important events on the federation’s calendar, with Qatar becoming the first country in the Middle East to host the event, as part of broader efforts to integrate esports into the future development system of basketball.
For his part, Mr. Hossam Abdel Azim Ibrahim, CEO of Mosafer Trading and Transport Company, expressed the company’s pride in concluding this agreement, affirming that Mosafer places great importance on supporting the sports sector in Qatar, which represents a fundamental pillar in achieving the nation’s vision and enhancing its global presence in organizing and hosting major international championships.
He explained that the agreement falls within the company’s plans to provide logistical and technical services that support the federation’s activities and tournaments, and to create an outstanding environment that ensures the success of all events overseen by the federation throughout the sporting season.
